Lavender; Video Two
Do you know there are two kinds of furniture at stores? Hi, it’s Shinko, and I am passionate about living a natural lifestyle. You may have guessed it already, but furniture is made of solid wood and cheap particle board. When my husband and I first got married, we ended up purchasing a coffee table in the latter kind since we were on a tight budget. After the table legs got broken in six months, alas, we were back to square one – furniture shopping for a new table.
Sad to say, but essential oils are no different. There are Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and Synthetic Oils such as Food & Perfume Grade & Floral Waters. Over 95% of essential oils on the market are of low quality, and many are mixed with synthetic chemicals and fillers.
That is explained by the abundance of “Lavender Scented” products on the market despite a shortage of Lavender plants worldwide. For example, if you see the “Lavender Scented” label on a product, it could be one of the following reasons. First, the scent may be replaced by a hybrid Lavender called Lavandin. Although Lavandin has a similar smell to Lavender, it doesn’t share the same healing properties. Making matters worse, Lavandin is known for producing a LOT of essential oils, up to 10x more than English Lavender. Do you know what that means? Lavandin serves as a cost-effective substitute for true Lavender! What’s more, a manufacturer may be using human-made chemicals to replace the natural scent of Lavender. Hence, the “Lavender Scented” products you just bought for your kitchen, baby’s room, bathroom or even business are probably either human-made chemicals or Lavandin.
In any case, unfortunately, we live in a world where advertising in marketing misleads people. That’s why you need to make sure only to buy high-quality products for yourself and your family. The problem with chemical products is that they can make you sick.
What about the oil you’ve got? The oil is from Young Living Essential Oils, and it has a
“Seed to Seal” promise. That means they do it all! From the seed that grows the plant to the harvesting to the distillation to the bottle’s sealing, from “Seed to Seal”, Young Living controls everything.
Where do they grow the plants? Young Living is the only essential oils company in the world which owns and operates their farms. Do they have organic standards? They are better than organic! The reason? The standard to declare a portion of land as organic is only three years without pesticides. How about Young Living Farms? Whooping over 50 years! Thus, by calling the farms organic, they have to downgrade their standard – isn’t that something?
By the way, I had the privilege of visiting the Young Living Lavender Farm for the last two years! Luckily, I was able to see how Lavender oil was made firsthand. Then I was pleasantly surprised to learn they only use steam, not chemicals, to extract the plants’ oil! Without added synthetic chemicals and fillers, the oils are kids and pets friendly!
When asked, a staff member explained to me that it takes 27 square feet of Lavender plants to make one 15-ml bottle of Lavender essential oil. No wonder Young Living Lavender oil is known as super concentrated and a little goes a long way. What does this mean to us as consumers? Since the oil is so concentrated and potent that we get to save money in the long run.
In the world filled with toxic chemicals, it is rare to find such authenticity and transparency in any artistry. I also found the staff there are kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about producing the best essential oils in the world! To them, working at the farm isn’t work; it’s their calling.
So where are the farms? Young Living has three farms that grow Lavender in Utah, Idaho and France, just off the Mediterranean coast not far from Marseille. And yes, all visitors are welcome there anytime. If you want the exact locations, please contact me. I will be happy to give you all the names.
In summary, Young Living Lavender oil is as pure and real as it can get! Since the oil is free of harmful chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, it gives you complete mental peace. Therefore, Young Living Lavender oil is registered as a Natural Health Product with Health Canada.
